Networking on Campus: Where to Start
by Madeleine Feldman | Thursday, Oct 30, 2025
Networking on campus can be an overwhelming experience, and many students have no clue where to start. As a third year English major completing my bachelor's degree, networking is crucial to finding employment post-graduation. In this blog post, I will provide a few tips to help students like you navigate networking on campus based on my personal experiences of
networking.
One of the best ways to network on campus is to go to career fairs. On Florida Atlantic University’s Boca Raton campus, these career fairs are held in the recreational center. To find the dates for career fairs, go to Handshake, an employment website company in which you can sign in with your FAU ID, go to events, and then click on career fairs at your school. I have been to a few of these fairs, and they have a swath of employers, from legal employers, to education, to human resources! I have met many employers and learned about the vast array of career opportunities within Boca Raton and other cities in South Florida.
Another way to network on campus is to go to the career center! On Boca Raton’s campus, the career center is located in the SU 80 building near the Student Union. I have gone to the career center to receive help with my resume and was provided with various resources for the career that I want to pursue, which is to become a legal assistant. They also offer help with cover letters, practice interviews, and help in searching for internships, part-time, and full-time jobs.
A final tip I have for you is that you can join the Student Ambassadors Program in the College of Arts and Letters! I currently work as a student ambassador and have had many opportunities to network through helping organize events around campus. I had the opportunity to have a group lunch with legal professionals in which I learned about the various jobs that are
available within that area. Networking is tough, but with these tips, you’ll make it and land your dream job!
