Interdisciplinary studies: Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS)
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) is appropriate for students who wish to design a program of study that spans a broad range of disciplines but focuses on issues related to women, gender, and sexuality. This concentration is an excellent choice for those interested in pre-law, higher education, victim advocacy, nonprofit, and much more.
Degree Requirements:
In addition to the University and College requirements for admission and graduation, the requirements for the major in Interdisciplinary Studies: WGSS are as follows:
- Students choose a primary area of concentration and develop a plan of study in consultation with the program director.
- A total of 39 credits are required, exclusive of general education courses.
- 30 of these credits must be upper-division.

15-18 credits must be in a primary area
- 12 credits must be upper-division.
- No more than 18 credits may be taken in any one area.

- Caribbean and Latin American Studies,
- Classical Studies,
- Communication and Multimedia Studies,
- English,
- Ethnic Studies,
- Film and Video Studies,
- History,
- Jewish Studies,
- Languages, Linguistics, and Comparative Literature,
- Music,
- Peace, Justice and Human Rights (PJHR),
- Philosophy,
- Sociology,
- Theatre and Dance,
- Visual Arts and Art History, and
- Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
In consultation with and with approval of the WGSS Director Dr. Carla María Thomas at carlathomas@fau.edu, appropriate courses from other disciplines may be approved. All courses for the major must be passed with a grade of "C" or higher, and no course taken on a pass/fail basis may be counted for the major.
