FAU Presents "An Evening of Peace and Inspiration with Gabrielle Bernstein and Friends"

FAU and Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life founder Barb Schmidt present an evening of peace and wellness, featuring The New York Times bestselling author Gabrielle Bernstein.

The event, titled "An Evening of Peace and Inspiration with Gabrielle Bernstein and Friends," will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 12 in FAU's Kaye Auditorium in the Student Union, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. There will be an exposition featuring a select group of organizations dedicated to wellness at 5 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $25 in advance (Early Bird tickets $20 through Sept. 30) and $30 at the door. FAU faculty, staff and alumni tickets are $20; and student tickets are $5 with ID. Admission includes a cd/video gift from Bernstein. Barb Schmidt will lead the presentation with Gabrielle Bernstein, and special guests vocalist Skye Dyer, her sister author Serena Dyer and natural skincare designer Tata Harper. A question and answer session and book signing will follow. During the event, Bernstein will present "Your Presence is Your Power," which is inspired by well-known spiritual teachings. She offers up spirit-based principles, meditations and practical 'do-them-in-the-moment' tools to clear all blocks to the presence of your authentic power. In her talk, she will break down each technique with meditations, assessment questions and step-by-step guidance, while incorporating lessons from her book "A Course in Miracles" and Kundalini yoga.

Bernstein is The New York Times best-selling author of "May Cause Miracles." Her other books are "Miracles Now,"  "Add More ~ing to Your Life" and "Spirit Junkie." Bernstein appears regularly as an expert on NBC's "Today" show," she has been featured on Oprah Winfrey's "Super Soul Sunday" as a next-generation thought leader, she was named "a new role model" by The New York Times and she was featured on the Forbes list of the "20 Best Branded Women." Bernstein is the founder of HerFuture.com, a social networking site for women to inspire, empower and connect, and she has a weekly radio show on "Hay House Radio."

About Bernstein's special guests

Skye Dyer has always been moved by soul, jazz and folk music. She has performed at HayHouse events and private events around the globe. She is currently performing music from her new extended play album "Letting Go." 

Serena Dyer is a south Florida native who is passionate about human rights. She recently completed her Master's degree at the University of Miami, focusing on human trafficking, and is currently traveling the globe and blogging about the subject it. She has co-authored a book about growing up with spiritual parents with her father, Wayne Dyer, titled "Don't Die With Your Music Still In You."

Natural skincare guru Tata Harper will be featured at the wellness exposition preceding the 7 p.m. presentation. The founder of Tata Harper Skincare, she has created an organic line of skincare, beauty and wellness products grown and produced on her farm in Vermont. 

Barb Schmidt, a businesswoman, philanthropist and spiritual teacher with more than 30 years of experience devoted to spiritual development and research, founded Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life in 2005 as a way to offer workshops and lectures for the community that help calm the mind and lift the spirit. She developed "The Practice," a set of practical tools intended to help cultivate a peaceful mind to lead a happier, more loving, more mindful and more peaceful life.

Since 2001, Schmidt and the Schmidt Family Foundation have supported FAU's Peace Studies Program, and are now an integral community partner with FAU's new Peace, Justice and Human Rights Initiative. This initiative seeks to bring together the various entities at FAU that are invested in the themes of Human Rights, Peace and Social Justice, both locally and globally.
