The South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship for Visual and Media Artists program is the largest regional government-sponsored grant in the United States, awarding $15,000 and $7,500 grants to resident visual and media artists from Broward, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach counties. Established in 1988, the Consortium has since awarded more than $2 million in fellowships to 172 artists.

There were ten Consortium winners for 2009, representing four of Florida’s five southeastern counties, working in diverse media from film to fibers, painting to photography, sculpture to assemblage/collage.  The Consortium exhibition was presented in both the Ritter Art Gallery and Schmidt Center Gallery.
