The Schmidt Gallery is pleased to present Things Goin' On: Hierarchical Order, an exhibition of mixed media works by Olivia Rachel Austin. Through a diverse array of materials and found objects, this body of work investigates the structures and systems that shape human life, examining themes of labor, social stratification, and power dynamics. Drawing on forms and materials that reference both the domestic and the monumental, these works evoke a shared human physicality while challenging traditional perceptions of order and value. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the intersections of individuality, history, and the systems that govern our world. War Abstracted  by MFA candidate Jay Hatfield encapsulates three years of artistic exploration at FAU, offering a response to contemporary conflicts both global and domestic. Neither a glorification nor a condemnation of war, this body of work reflects experiences from the First Gulf War while engaging with broader themes of conflict and its impact. Through a diverse range of materials and methods, the work navigates personal and political landscapes, occasionally voicing a distinct perspective.
