Mental Rest: A Poem

Mental Rest
When you think of rest, you think of sleeping
And for many of us, that’s our go-to,
But repeating that cycle, it’s a “must not do”
To get the rest that touches the soul
Is to get the rest that touches the heart,
The one that knows no bounds,
Grounds us to our beliefs, allows us to have a reprieve
A temporary relief, or a well-rounded rejuvenation
A little hobby, or a stolen moment
Whatever it is, that gives your brain true rest
I suggest giving it a chance,
Allow it to take you away from the busy-ness of the world,
I promise you’ll feel refreshed.
It's rather vital, to end that cycle.
You know, the one where we sleep as an escape
Because a lot of times, tiredness isn’t a lack of sleep
It’s a lack of break.
This might be the best decision you’ll ever make,
Prioritizing your health,
Take that break, maybe even take delight in some cake
