Fall 2021 General Science Undergraduate Scholarships
The application period for the Fall 2021 general science scholarships has ended, check back in Spring 2022.
Students must have already completed at least one semester at FAU before applying for General Scholarships
- Criteria:
- Award recipients must maintain the GPA requirements for Mathematics and Science Majors with an undergraduate minimum FAU GPA of 2.5.
- Undergraduate recipients must be either graduating seniors from the Palm Beach County high schools or transfer students from Palm Beach Community College (now Palm Beach State College) with priority given to students from North Palm Beach County.
- If eligible undergraduate students cannot be found who meet this criterion, the awards may be made to residents of Palm Beach County presently enrolled at the College of Science.
- Awards will be made in annual increments of $4,000 per student.
- Award recipients must evidence good character, participate in extracurricular activities, and should show evidence of financial need.
- Each scholarship award shall be for one year, payable in two equal installments. Recipients will be chosen by the College of Science Scholarship Committee.

National Save the Sea Turtle Undergraduate Scholarship
The scholarship will provide financial assistance to Charles E. Schmidt College of Science seniors enrolled at the Boca Campus who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and a commitment to become scholars and ambassadors that represent the marine science program at Florida Atlantic University.
- The ideal candidate is an undergraduate about to enter their senior year with interest in any aspect of marine biology research at the organismal (ecological, evolutionary, or behavioral) level and educational outreach. Preference will be given to applicants in good standing in the biology department’s Honors Thesis Program. Read more here.

Clark Scholarship Award Endowment
- Criteria: Bachelor of Science Chemistry majors who show excellence in Organic Chemistry, have completed Advanced Organic Chemistry (CHM 4220), and have high academic excellence/
Carey and Rosamond Jackson Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00.
- This scholarship is awarded annually from an endowment originally provided by Dr. Carey B. Jackson in memory of his beloved wife.
- The funds are awarded to students majoring in Chemistry with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
David and Eleanore Rukin Memorial Scholarship
- Award: $1,100
- The recipient should be a senior majoring in Exercise Science and Health Promotion
- The recipient must have at least a 3.0 GPA (at FAU).
- The recipient must demonstrate financial need.
- Recipients to write a thank you letter to Julius Eisen of the Rukin Foundation.
- You must submit the completed application before the deadline.

James P. and Eloise M. Latham Scholarship in Geography and Related Fields
- Criteria: Full-time students with a 3.0 GPA or higher studying Geography or related field in their junior or senior years and who have financial need.
The Chinese Association of Science-Education-Culture (CASEC) Scholarship Fund.
- Criteria: Minimum GPA of 3.5 and above. Year in school is Junior and above. Scholarship award per term $1000
- Must demonstrate financial need and be a full-time student
- Major to be Mathematical Sciences in the College of Charles E Schmidt College of Science
- A qualified applicant must be Asian and have demonstrated active involvement in promoting Asian culture and education.
Isaac Shur Undergraduate Scholarship
- Criteria: FAU Mathematics students with a minimum 3.5 GPA in mathematics courses who have completed at least 36 credit hours of undergraduate mathematics and through their excellent performance demonstrate promise in mathematics for a possible career (Letters of recommendation from two professors are required).
Calculus Sequence Scholarship
- Criteria: FAU students who have earned an A in the Calculus sequence (MAC2311 Calculus, Analytic Geometry 1, MAC2281, MAC2312 or MAC2282--students can be enrolled in one of these two courses if needed) (Letters of recommendation from two professors are required).
Leanne and Spyros Magliveras Undergraduate Award
- Criteria: FAU Mathematics students who have completed at least 24 credits of mathematics courses with a minimum 3.4 GPA in mathematics courses (Letters of recommendation from two professors are required).
Julio Bastida Endowed Scholarship Fund
- Criteria: Mathematics majors in the junior or senior year who have demonstrated strong academic performance and sharing Julio Bastida's passion for the liberal arts.
Excellence in Physics Scholarship
- Criteria: Junior or senior Physics students who show academic excellence and merit in the field of Physics, and who have a good standing with the University.
LACCEI Scholarship Application (pdf)
Florida Atlantic University is a founding member of the Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions and has established scholarships for international students who are citizens of Latin America and the Caribbean (excluding Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). These scholarships are extended to qualifying students in the College of Science. In order to qualify, students must be fully admissible to FAU under existing criteria for graduate programs and meet other standards:

Complete FAU admissions form and pay its application fee prior to applying for this scholarship (see www.fau.edu/academic/gradstud/grad.htm )

A minimum of 3.0 (out of 4.0) Grade Point Average (GPA).

GRE and TOEFL scores required by the program to which student is applying

Full-time status is required (9 credits per semester for graduate students during the Fall and Spring semesters. 6 credits in the Summer semester OR if fewer credits, the appropriate full-time status paperwork must be filed each semester).

The applicant seeking a Master’s must be in the thesis option with the goal of continuing to pursue a Ph.D.
The award is an established scholarship that is offered on the basis of existing policies and guidelines, and the selection process is open and competitive. Details of the FAU LACCEI scholarship are as follows:

The College commits to financial support for the duration of the student’s degree program, as long as the student remains in full-°©‐‑time status and in good standing.

A LACCEI Scholarship of $1,500 per year ($500 paid per semester).

The Student will be considered a Florida Resident for tuition purposes only, under the provisions of Section 1009.21 (10) (e) of the Florida Statutes.

Lisa Pollock Endowed Scholarship
- Criteria: Psychology majors who have a 3.5 GPA in Psychology and a 3.0 overall who show financial need and have nomination letters from two faculty members.
NSF LEARN™ Program
LEARN™ is a program for transfer students that focuses on the academic success of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students. By working with on-campus partners, LEARN™ provides a select group of 20 transfer students with an inquiry-based and hands-on educational experience through learning about and conducting research. Accepted students will receive a $500 scholarship in the fall and an additional $1,500 scholarship in the spring if a research position has been secured. All LEARN™ students receive priority registration. Specifically, students will participate in the following:
- Introduction to Research I and II courses in the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters. These are one-credit courses and the cost of the courses is waived for all LEARN™ participants
- Academic, social, and community service programming
- Opportunity to conduct research with an FAU faculty mentor in the spring semester
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Matriculating to FAU in the summer or fall of 2019 with their Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Declared major in the College of Science or College of Engineering and Computer Science

Boca Raton Orchid Society Endowed Scholarship
- Criteria: Biology majors with an interest in Botany who have excellent academic ability.
Palm Beach County Fishing Foundation - Capt. Al Nathan Memorial Scholarship
- Criteria: Graduate students studying Marine Biology.
- Criteria: Graduate students with a 3.0 GPA pursuing a Masters or Ph.D. majoring in Marine Biology or Ecology with verifiable financial need.
Dr. Vincent R. Saurino Fellowship for Graduate Students in Biological Sciences
- Criteria: Outstanding full-time degree-seeking graduate students in Biological Sciences at FAU with high academic performance and potential who maintain the eligibility criteria and make satisfactory progress toward a degree (awarded on the basis of merit without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, or handicap).
Courtenay Graduate Scholarship in Conservation Biology
- Criteria: Graduate students studying Conservation Biology who have shown high academic merit.
John Nambu Scholarship for Molecular Biology
- Criteria: Biology graduate student participating in molecular biology research with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Established in memory of the late John Nambu, Professor of Biology, this fund is used to award one (1) scholarship annually to an outstanding graduate student participating in molecular biology research with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Rosalyn E. Schonzeit Scholarship in Environment Studies
- Criteria: Graduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA, who show financial need, and who pursue a course of study in Environmental Studies.
Lutz Memorial Scholarship
- This scholarship is awarded to outstanding graduate students pursuing a course of study in marine biology, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need.
National Save the Sea Turtle Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded outstanding graduate students whose studies center on the ecology, evolution or behavior of marine organisms.
Dr. Cyril Parkanyi Graduate Research Memorial Scholarship Fund
- Criteria: Graduate students (MS and Ph.D.) in Chemistry and Biochemistry who work between May and August to advance their thesis research.
Virginia D. Kelly Exercise Science and Wellness Endowed Scholarship
To provide a Scholarship for students in the Department of Exercise Science and Health Promotion within the College of Science. This scholarship is a one-time gift of $1,200 and will be noted in future university and FAU Publications.
- Restrictions/Guidelines: The scholarship will be awarded to an Exercise Science and Health Promotion student and who has successfully completed at least one year of Graduate study.
- This scholarship is based on merit with a preference to Christian students.

Geosciences Graduate Student Endowed Scholarship Fund
- Criteria: Graduate degree-seeking students enrolled in Geosciences who submit an essay detailing their interest in geosciences and future career plans, their reasons for seeking the scholarship, and any demonstrated financial hardship.
Arthur Cayley Graduate Scholarship
- Criteria: Graduate students with a 3.5 GPA in Mathematical Sciences working towards a degree in Algebra, Cryptology, or Combinatorics who have demonstrated excellence in Ph.D. research and are recognized as excellent and dedicated teachers while performing duties as GTAs (letters of recommendation from at least two professors are required).
Isaac Shur Graduate Scholarship
- Criteria: Graduate students with a 3.5 GPA in Mathematical Sciences who have successfully completed the qualifying examinations (letters of recommendation from at least two professors are required).
Leanne and Spyros Magliveras Graduate Award
- Criteria: Graduate students with a 3.4 GPA in Mathematical Sciences who have successfully completed the qualifying examinations (letters of recommendation from at least two professors are required).
- Criteria: Graduate students with a 3.0 GPA in Mathematical Sciences who have successfully completed the qualifying examinations with a high passing score in Abstract Algebra (letters of recommendation from at least two professors are required).
Gus and Sharon Pearthree Math Graduate Scholars Award
- To be eligible for this scholarship, students must major in Math. Priority shall be given to students enrolled as Ph.D./doctoral candidates. Qualified recipients must be considered excellent students, researchers and/or instructors and among the best of the post-graduate math degree candidates. Preference will be given to United States citizens or Green Card holders.
- Nominations, including self-nominations, and letters of recommendation are to be submitted electronically to Dr. Aaron Meyerowitz (meyerowi@fau.edu).
- Criteria: Graduate students in Psychology who have completed one year of graduate school, are planning on pursuing a doctorate in Psychology, and who have a superior academic record and the ability to make important contributions in the field of psychology.
Jack B. Walker Scholarship Endowment
- Criteria: Psychology Ph.D. students who will contribute to research in the field.
Graduate Student Professional Development Scholarship
- The Graduate Student Professional Development Scholarship is an award of up to $2,000 per individual given by the Department of Psychology to graduate students to support training related to their dissertation research that they are unable to obtain at Florida Atlantic University. This could include (but is not limited to) workshops on statistical analysis, behavioral coding, or research techniques. The goal of this scholarship is to enhance the professional development of Ph.D. students pursuing academic and professional careers. Recipients must be full-time, degree-seeking students in good academic standing enrolled in FAU's Department of Psychology.
