Events and Seminars

The Schmidt College of Science hosts regular seminars, reading groups, and workshops that convene faculty and students working in quantum computing, quantum algorithms, and post-quantum cryptography.

Cryptography Seminar Series

Bi-weekly · Ongoing

A bi-weekly research seminar hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, with a major focus on post-quantum cryptography. Presentations span lattice-based, code-based, and isogeny-based schemes; hardness assumptions; and quantum-safe primitives.

Quantum Computation and Quantum Algorithms Reading Seminar

Bi-weekly · Since Fall 2025

A bi-weekly reading seminar on foundations of quantum computation and quantum algorithms, open to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers across the College. Running continuously since Fall 2025.

D-Wave Quantum Applications Academy — Workshops & Hackathons

Planned · 2026

Joint workshops and hackathons with D-Wave Systems, designed to foster innovation by exploring real-world quantum applications. Part of the broader D-Wave Quantum Applications Academy at FAU.

Emerging Tech and Interdisciplinary Workshops

Ongoing · Dynamic Schedule | Gruber Sandbox

A series of interdisciplinary educational initiatives, public discussions, and hands-on workshops centered on artificial intelligence, advanced computational systems, and scientific collaboration are hosted within the Gruber Sandbox, a multidisciplinary collaboration space housed within the Wimberly Library and jointly managed by the Schmidt College of Science and University Libraries. These activities serve as a vital translational hub on campus, connecting students, researchers, and the community to explore how emerging technologies—including the intersection of machine learning and quantum concepts—can be applied to solve complex societal challenges. The emerging tech and workshop activities are frequently hosted by the Machine Perception and Cognitive Robotics Laboratory (MPCR) that is a key partner within the Gruber Sandbox.
