When submitting your animal use application for consideration, please follow these steps:

  1. Please send the completed application to the IACUC office, Dana Becker or Kristen Ware.
  2. A pre-review of the protocol will be completed and an email requesting clarifications may be sent to the PI. If applicable, all permits should be submitted at the same time as the protocol. Additionally, if the project is funded, a scope of work from the proposal should be submitted as well.
  3. The revised protocol will be returned to the IACUC office and assigned to either Designated Member Review (DMR) or Full Committee Review based on the potential for pain and/or distress (assigned by USDA pain category).
  4. Veterinary Review will be completed at the same time as the protocol review *.
  5. Once the IACUC review has been completed, an email will be sent to the PI requesting further clarifications or an approval letter will be sent.

*Note: Please do not send your protocol for veterinary review first. Veterinary review will be completed concurrently with IACUC review. If you need assistance with veterinary related care as you develop your protocol, however, do not hesitate to contact Dr. Nicole Compo for assistance.
