Francine Coker

Assistant Director | FAU’s Broward Campus Life

Francine Coker is the Assistant Director of FAU’s Broward Campus Life where she is responsible for developing and connecting students to the different resources and events taking place on campus. She has held this position since 2017. Coker earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Hospitality Management in 2014 from the FAU’s College of Business.

"After I graduated in 2014 I started working at a Fortune 500 company. I did not feel fulfilled and decided to return to FAU to work on my MBA in International Business, which I earned in 2018," Coker said. "Upon my return, I received the opportunity of a lifetime to work in the Admissions Office on the Boca Raton Campus as a recruiter. The transition from student staff to professional staff was easy to navigate because I had mentors that guided me through my professional journey." Coker thanks mentors FAU’s Jessica Lopez, High Point University’s Ashely Burrough and Broward College’s Ashley Williams and Stella Beteck.

As a student, Coker held several positions in Student Government from Chief of Staff, Broward Program Director, and Broward Graduate Student Professional Association Director. Coker’s favorite memory as an FAU student was when she convinced the Vice President of Student Affairs and Broward Administration that it would be a good idea to paint the FAU Davie Student Union red and blue to bring more school spirit to the FAU Davie campus.

Coker’s long-term goal is to open up a non-profit organization to provide funding and resources to international students to move forward with their post-secondary education. She is currently working on her doctorate in Public Administration from Florida State University (which she expects to earn in 2024) to turn her goal into a reality by learning about the different policies in place in the education system and how to remove barriers for low-income minorities.

"My time management secrets for individuals working full-time and working toward a degree are to create a to-do list, plan ahead, and outsource," Coker said.

On her free time, Coker, who was born in Miami, enjoys the outdoors, fine cuisine, traveling, skydiving, and rollerblading. "I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason, and it is important to trust the process," Coker said.
