FAU will present the lecture "Syrian Refugees: Politics, Policies, and Issues" on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 5 p.m. in the Arts and Letters Building, room 189, 777 Glades Road, FAU Boca Raton campus.
The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be presented by Rochelle Davis, associate professor of cultural anthropology at the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University.
Davis' research focuses on refugees and conflict in the Arab world, with her most recent research in Jordan and Lebanon examining Syrian refugees displaced by the violence in Syria, and Iraqi refugees who fled Jordan to Syria after 2005. She has conducted extensive research with Syrian and Iraqi refugees using participatory methods and life histories. Her lecture will address her latest findings and thoughts concerning the plight of Syrian refugees and the larger implications for the region.
This lecture is sponsored by the Chastain-Johnston Middle East Enhancement Project; the FAU Peace, Justice and Human Rights Initiative; and the Department of History in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.
