Arthur Gutterman, the founding donor of Florida Atlantic University’s Emalie and Arthur Gutterman Family Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education, recently received an Honorary Doctorate degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU).

A longtime supporter of HU and the American Friends of the Hebrew University (AFHU), Gutterman established the HU Emalie Gutterman Endowed Fund for Medical Research in memory of his wife, and the Arthur Gutterman Family Chair in Stem Cell Biology Endowment Fund. He also serves on the Hebrew University’s Board of Governors, Executive Committee, AFHU’s National Board and National Campaign Committee, and the Southeast Region’s Advisory Committee.

In conferring the degree, HU President and Professor Asher Cohen praised Gutterman for his “steadfast commitment to a vibrant global Jewish community” and “his and his family’s commitment to Holocaust education in South Florida.”
