After dreaming of London for so long, Myra returned to the city with the goal of earning a PhD in Evolutionary Biology1. For years, she had carried around the version of London she had seen as a child. In her fantastical memories, sidewalks glistened with rain, bright shop signs beckoned her inside, cars roamed the streets like wild horses, and the sweet smell of bread and cooked meat infused everything. But Myra had only been in the city for a day. Her aunt had met her on the dock2. Then, they walked a little way to the bus station where they boarded one bound for Dover3.
