Dr. Precious Skinner-Osei's research focuses on criminal justice reform (i.e., reentry, recidivism, and family reunification), justice-involved fathers, and trauma-informed care for justice-involved youth. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the National Organization of Forensic Social Work, and the International Association of Schools of Social Work.

As an educator, Dr. Skinner-Osei is committed to exposing students to all facets of learning by collaborating with community partners to ensure students receive real-world experience through practical assignments that prepare them for the workforce and graduate school. Mentorship is also a crucial component of Dr. Skinner-Osei's teaching. She has supervised graduate teaching and research assistants, published peer-reviewed research articles with undergraduate and graduate students, and supervised students during their internships and on community-based projects.

Dr. Skinner-Osei has received several accolades regarding her teaching. In recent years, she was awarded the Presidential Award for Community-Engaged Teaching and the National Association of Social Worker Educator of the Year, honored by student-athletes as the Honorary Faculty Guest Coach, and her teaching was recognized by a local community agency, Poverello Becomes a Classroom for FAU Students.
