Dr. Alan Kunz-Lomelin is an Assistant Professor in the Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. His work focuses on the future of behavioral health and human services, with particular attention to how artificial intelligence and large language models can strengthen care, education, and research while preserving human judgment. He studies how AI can support clinical workflows, improve access to high-quality information, enhance training and supervision, and accelerate research in mental health and substance use systems, while also examining the governance, workforce, and accountability challenges these tools create at scale. His methodological approach integrates quantitative methods, applied AI, and social network analysis to connect innovation with measurable outcomes and system readiness. He welcomes speaking engagements, interdisciplinary collaborations, grant partnerships, and consulting opportunities focused on responsible, evidence-informed AI in social work and behavioral health.
