Michelle Eliasson, PhD

Michelle N. Eliasson, PhD, is an assistant professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida Atlantic University. She obtained her PhD and MA from the University of Florida and her BS from Lund University, Sweden. Her primary areas of expertise are victimology, policing, and qualitative methodology. Some of Michelle’s research explores criminal justice professionals’ occupational experiences and their perceptions of victims/victimization. For example, in one of her projects, she completed 500 hours of ride-alongs with a police organization and followed 34 cases of domestic and non-domestic battery, examining police officers’ perception of victim legitimacy. Her research has been published in outlets such as Policing: an International Journal, Victims & Offenders, European Journal of Policing Studies, and International Journal of Comparative and Applied Criminal Justice.
