Addressing Intersections with Professional Practice and Training

Danielle Groton, PhD, SSW associate professor and DSW degree program coordinator, has co-authored two new peer-reviewed publications addressing sleep health and its intersections with professional practice and training. In a recent publication for Social Work Education, Groton explains the creation of an interdisciplinary, online sleep education training program designed for social work students that she developed along with Christine Spadola and Nicole Alford. The initiative, shaped by 25 collaborators across seven universities, offers a blueprint for health promotion and cross-disciplinary learning in virtual environments.

In another new article, published in Policing: An International Journal, Groton worked with Wendy Guastaferro, PhD, SCCJ professor, and other colleagues to examine law enforcement officers’ sleep knowledge, experiences, and preferences for online sleep health training. The study, made possible through the College’s Seed Funding program, highlights the critical impact of sleep on policing and workplace wellness.
