Dr. Morgan Cooley Honored for Work with Parents, Families & Caregivers

Morgan Cooley, PhD, LCSW, associate professor in the Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work (SSW), has won in the Researcher category for the Florida Institute for Child Welfare’s Annual Child Welfare Professional of the Year Awards. Nominated for the award by Michael Robinson, PhD, MSSW, CAADC, director of the SSW, Dr. Cooley studies the relationship quality between foster children and foster parents, the influence of fostering experiences and child behavior on foster parent well-being, and what factors are associated with improved foster child mental health.

“Morgan's dedication and tireless efforts to support parents, caregivers, and families have truly made a significant impact, and it is fantastic to see her hard work honored in this way,” said Naelys Luna, PhD, MSW, founding dean of the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice and SSW professor. The award was presented in Tallahassee on May 7, 2025.
