New Forensic Investigation Minor at Florida Atlantic

Led By 20-Year NYPD Crime Scene Investigator

Patrick "Pat" McLaughlin, retired NYPD crime scene investigator, forensics expert, and instructor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, is leading the creation of a new minor in Forensic Investigation, which is set to begin Fall 2025. Drawing on a multidisciplinary foundation, the program combines three core criminology courses with supporting classes in biology, anatomy, and anthropology, providing students with a well-rounded introduction to the real-world tools and techniques used to examine crime scenes, as well as mindfulness practices to care for their mental well-being as working professionals.
