The Script Your Future (SYF) Medication Adherence Team Challenge is a national competition among teams of students focused on promoting medication adherence and health promotion for persons with diabetes, cardiovascular, and respiratory illnesses while addressing health disparities. This year there was a focus on vaccine confidence due to  the COVID-19 pandemic.

Various community educational events were held in February and March 2021. Our talented interprofessional faculty team from the Phyllis & Harvey Sandler School of Social Work – Donna Drucker, LCSW; Georgia Brown, MSW; Allan Barsky, MSW, Ph.D.; Heather Howard, MSW, Ph.D., LICSW; and Morgan Cooley, Ph.D., LCSW – collaborated with 72 social work students and fellow faculty from the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing and the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, as well as the Palm Beach Atlantic School of Pharmacy in a virtual meet with 60 senior members of our community to educate them on the importance of medication adherence and to provide additional information about the COVID-19 vaccines.

Florida Atlantic University’s Office of Interprofessional Education & Practice (IPEP) is proud to recognize our Social Work colleagues for their leadership and participation in this challenge. Due to their outstanding collaborative efforts, the FAU IPEP team was recognized as the Rookie Award Finalist for making a strong showing in the Team Challenge as a first-time competitor.

Senior Adult Geriatric Educators (SAGE) mentors were from community partners, including Abby Delray North, Abby Delray South, Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, and Weisman Delray Community Center.
