Dr. Ryan Meldrum's Study Examines Adolescents in Central America
Ryan C. Meldrum, PhD, professor and SCCJ director, has published a new study, “The Impact of Dating a Gang Member on Adolescent Delinquency in Central America,” in International Criminology. Co-written with a PhD student and a professor from FIU, the paper investigates associations between dating a gang member and delinquency and substance use among Salvadoran adolescents using longitudinal data. Their research finds that these relationships may be uniquely associated with and promotive of delinquency during the key developmental period of adolescence.
