Criminal Justice Summer Camp for High School Students

Monday, Mar 09, 2020

This statement is for FAU’s Criminal Justice Summer Camp participants:

FAU has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. As always, our top priority is the health and safety of our campers, students, and staff. At this time, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the Criminal Justice Summer Camp for both June and July 2020. We do not take canceling this program lightly, but the health and safety of our campers, students, and staff is paramount. We wanted to notify all of the families immediately so you can plan accordingly. Full refunds of the camp fee will be issued to those already registered.

Our camp lets students see firsthand what it would be like to work in the criminal justice field and offers one-of-a-kind opportunities to see the criminal justice system in action. Because of our commitment to providing this unique and wonderful experience, w e are exploring hosting a Winter Camp in December 2020 and would love to have your camper join us! We will stay in touch with you about this. We are planning on hosting the camp in Summer 2021 so please check back later in the year for registration information. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Professor Rubin at rubins@fau.edu. Stay safe and healthy.

High school students from around the country come to Florida Atlantic University each year for our week-long Criminal Justice Summer Camp. If you know of students in grades 9-12 who are looking to explore crime-scene investigation, forensics, the FBI, Marine Police work, bomb squad work, or who are interested in a career in criminology and criminal justice, this is the summer camp for them.

Campers will observe AND participate in mock crime scenes and a mock criminal trial, as well as watch demonstrations of bomb squads, K-9 Units, and SWAT Teams. They will also visit police Marine Units, 911 call centers, and the FBI offices.
