PSMMP Graduate Students Successfully Match to Medical Physics Residency Programs

Congratulations to four outstanding Schmidt College of Science, Department of Physics, Professional Science Master in Medical Physics (PSMMP) graduate students who were admitted to medical physics residencies this year:

Gagandeep Saini Pama Imran Muhammad.
Gagandeep Saini Pama, University of Arkansas Imran Muhammad, University of Chicago
Gagandeep Saini Pama Tristan Irons
Alejandro Lianes Lopez, Miami Cancer Institute Tristan Irons, University of Mississippi Medical Center

Following their graduations from Florida Atlantic in May, all four students are set to begin their residency programs at their respective institutions on July 1. The College’s two-year master’s curriculum integrates theory, research and medical ethics training that prepares students for careers as innovative leaders in medical physics. Through partnerships with area hospitals, students also gain the clinical experience necessary to apply for residencies.

“I am so immensely pleased for these remarkable students,” said Theodora Leventouri, Ph.D., professor of physics and director of the medical physics program and the Center for Biomedical Materials Physics. “Their hard work and dedication to their field have earned them outstanding opportunities at well-respected institutions.”

Florida Atlantic’s PSMMP program is one of only 60 Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) accredited programs in the nation, and it has maintained that distinction since 2014.
