2025 Pre-Health Professions Summit to Focus on Emergency Medicine
Friday, Oct 03, 2025
Mark your calendars! The Charles E. Schmidt College of Science is pleased to announce the 2025 Pre-Health Professions Emergency Medicine Summit from Monday, Oct. 13 through Wednesday, Oct. 15. This year’s theme, “Emergency Medicine,” is designed to provide undergraduate students with immersive, hands-on experiences and training in essential emergency medical skills. All events will be held on the Boca Raton campus.
The three-day event will feature interactive workshops and training sessions in blood pressure monitoring, a suture clinic, stop the bleed techniques and SOAP note documentation tips. Students will also have the unique opportunity to engage directly with faculty and medical students from the Schmidt College of Medicine to gain insights about clinical practice and medical education pathways.
“This summit is a powerful opportunity for our pre-health students to build clinical confidence, connect with mentors and explore the realities of emergency medicine,” stated Gina Jones, director of the Office of Pre-Health Professions and Continuing Education in the Schmidt College of Science.
A highlight of the summit will be a special session focused on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Model used by the Schmidt College of Medicine. This session will include a Q&A panel with current medical students, offering attendees a chance to ask questions, listen to personal experiences and learn more about the journey to medical school.
“During the course of this summit, students will gain real-world emergency training, while connecting with mentors and role models in the medical field,” said Latarsha Morgan, associate director of the college’s Pre-Health Professions Program. “We are excited to empower students with the skills and confidence they need to thrive in health care environments and to help them envision their future in medicine.”
The Emergency Medicine Summit is open to all Florida Atlantic undergraduate students who are interested in health professions.
