Art of Science: Time to Show Off Your Research
New Deadline for the Art of Science Contest
Florida Atlantic University’s Art of Science competition has been extended through midnight on Sunday, Oct. 12, giving researchers, students and staff more time to submit visuals of their research. Whether captured under a microscope, through a camera lens, or from the field, each submission reveals the artistry within discovery.
This year’s judging panel brings together experts from across disciplines, including medicine, engineering and neuroscience, to evaluate entries that reveal the beauty within innovation.
The judge’s combined perspectives reflect the spirit of the competition – that art and science, together, can deepen the understanding of the world.
Here’s a look at one of the jurors for this year’s Art of Science.
Daniel Nemeth, Ph.D.
Daniel Nemeth, Ph.D., a postdoctoral fellow in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, is a juror in the Art of Science contest this year. Nemeth studies the complex interactions between the brain and immune system. The focus of his research has been how cellular communication influences behaviors such as anxiety, depression and memory.
“While sitting down at the microscope or behind a camera, you'll see things no one else has seen, see things that strike you with awe of the complex world, and it allows your mind to race with new ideas. ” Nemeth said.
