2026-2027 Promotion and Tenure Timeline for Tenure-Track Faculty

ePortfolios for tenure track faculty must be submitted via Interfolio to the University Promotion and Tenure Committee by December 11, 2026. Please start the P&T process as early as possible to ensure compliance with the University P&T Timelines.

The Provost's Promotion and Tenure ePortfolio Guidelines for Tenure Track Faculty for 2026-2027 must be followed. Please visit www.fau.edu/provost/for-faculty/promotion-tenure/ for additional information. 

NOTE: All dates listed below are the last possible due dates. When possible, materials should be uploaded as early as possible in the process. It is the responsibility of the faculty member to see that the ePortfolio is complete.

Immediately

Any tenure-track faculty member in the College of Medicine who wishes to apply for promotion and/or tenure in 2026-2027 should consult with the Department Chair as soon as possible. 

June 12, 2026

Due: Candidate’s materials for review by external and internal peers

  • Chair complies a list of potential reviewers in consultation with the candidate and other senior faculty in the candidate's area of expertise at the Associate or Full Professor rank and submits (Name, Title, Institution & Email Address) along with the Internal Cover Sheet for External Letters.  Materials to include a brief Curriculum Vitae, self-evaluation and department criteria for promotion. More items may be required by the Department Chair. Please also check the department/college criteria for additional items not listed in this document.

August 12, 2026

Due: Candidate’s completed portfolio for review by the Department Chair.

August 14, 2026

Due: Chair’s review of ePortfolio, and ePortfolios sent forward for review of the Department Promotion and Tenure Committee

  • The Chair reviews the contents of the ePortfolio to ensure that all required materials are included in the packet. If the ePortfolio is incomplete, please refer to the steps outlined on pages 2-4 of the Provost’s Office P&T Guidelines. 
  • The Chair (or department representative) uploads the certificate and sends the ePortfolio forward for review by the Department P&T Committee

Due: Department Promotion and Tenure Committee Report 

The Department P&T Committee Chair prepares a memorandum reporting the numerical results of the poll of the faculty eligible to vote on the promotion ePortfolio.  Committee names, voting and non-voting must be listed in the memo. Please refer to page 13 of the P&T Guidelines for Tenure Track Faculty for additional requirements.

  • The Department Committee Chair ensures that identifying information of external evaluators was appropriately used or withheld. 
  • The Department P&T Committee Chair uploads the Report of the College P&T Committee and notifies the department representative.
  • The department representative shares the file with the candidate (to allow the candidate to submit a response).

September 5, 2026

Due: Candidate’s response, if any, to the Department P&T Committee Report

The candidate may upload a brief response within 5 days of receipt of the added material and should notify the department representative (even if no response). The ePortfolio cannot move forward for 5 days after the candidate has received the letter unless, before the 5-day period has expired, the candidate indicates there will be no response.  The response should be filed in the same section as the letter being responded to and easily identifiable by document title.

September 21, 2026

Due: Chair’s Letter of Evaluation

  • The Chair’s letter should be in adequate detail to ensure a presentation of the relationship between the academic assignment and accomplishments.  Evaluations should be conducted in accordance with appropriate criteria.  Please refer to Provost’s pages 13-14 of the P&T Guidelines for Tenure Track Faculty for additional requirements.
  • The Chair ensures that identifying information of external evaluators was appropriately used or withheld.
  • The Chair (or department representative) uploads the Chair’s letter of evaluation and shares the file with the candidate (to allow the candidate to submit a response).

September 25, 2026

Due: Candidate’s response, if any, to the Chair’s Letter of Evaluation

The candidate may upload a brief response within 5 days of receipt of the added material and should notify the department representative (even if no response). The ePortfolio cannot move forward for 5 days after the candidate has received the letter unless, before the 5-day period has expired, the candidate indicates there will be no response.  The response should be filed in the same section as the letter being responded to and easily identifiable by document title.

September 28, 2026

Due: ePortfolios sent forward for review by the College Promotion and Tenure Committee

  • The department representative notifies comdeansoffice@health.fau.edu when the ePortfolio has been sent forward to the College P&T Committee.
  • The College P&T Committee Chair reviews the contents of the ePortfolio to ensure that all required materials are included in the packet.  If the ePortfolio is incomplete, please refer to the steps outlined on page 14-15 of the Provost’s Office P&T Guidelines.
  • The College P&T Committee Chair (or the Dean’s Office representative) uploads the certificate to Interfolio.

October 19, 2026

Due - College Promotion and Tenure Committee Report

  • The Dean prepares a memorandum and ensures that identifying information of external evaluators was appropriately used or withheld.
  • The Dean’s representative upload’s the Dean’s letter and shares the file with the candidate (to allow the candidate to submit a response).

November 23, 2026

Due: Candidate’s review and response, if any, to the Dean's letter of evaluation

The candidate may upload a brief response within 5 days of receipt of the added material and should notify Faculty Affairs and comdeansoffice@health.fau.edu (even if no response). The ePortfolio cannot move forward for 5 days after the candidate has received the letter unless, before the 5-day period has expired, the candidate indicates there will be no response.  The response should be filed in the same section as the letter being responded to and easily identifiable by document title.

December 11, 2026

Due: ePortfolios sent forward for review by the University Promotion and Tenure Committee

The Dean’s Office representative moves the ePortfolio forward to the University Promotion and Tenure Committee.

President certifies to the FAU BOT that all procedures in University Regulation 5.006 (Tenure Procedures) have been followed.
