FAU decided to redesign the budget model to better align resources with its mission, strategic priorities, and student success goals. The current incremental model limits access to timely financial information and makes it harder to see how decisions impact units over time.

The University aims for a budget model that allocates resources transparently, creates a single source of truth, and enables continued investment in academic, research, and student success priorities.

This phase of the project is geared towards gaining a clearer understanding of how the university’s resources are used and ensuring they support long-term sustainability. By examining administrative processes and the costs of academic programs, FAU can make informed decisions about where to invest for the greatest impact. This use of historical data helps us understand how FAU allocates costs to colleges and units and allows campus leaders to provide feedback prior to the implementation of any changes.
