What is Peer Academic Coaching?

At our coaching center, we’ll help you get a jump start on your university career.

A Peer Academic Coach (PAC) is either an undergraduate student or a graduate student who has been academically successful at Florida Atlantic University. Either way, Peer Academic Coaches are available to offer student-to-student, FAU specific tips and advice on how to be successful here.

They understand that success in college isn’t limited to having good study skills (though they can coach you on those), but is also about getting along with the people you live with, feeling connected to campus, being able to make ends meet, finding the right balance between work and your classes, etc.

You can meet with a Peer Academic Coach regularly throughout the semester, or stop in one-time with a question. Coaches can also meet with you by phone or on-line.

Unbridled Ambition. Be Bold. Make Waves.

When you hear these FAU phrases, do you believe they describe you? WE DO!

Peer Academic Coaches work to recognize the strengths in every student they meet with. They also understand that strengths aren’t limited to whether you are a good writer or can crush a biology exam. Your family may be a source of strength, or your competitive spirit, or your empathy for others, or so many other things that are unique to you.

Peer Academic Coaches will share advice that is true for everyone (going to class IS the strongest predictor of grades), but they will also coach to your strengths. Don’t know what those are? Let a Peer Academic Coach help you discover and develop them.
