Dr. Michelle Cavallo was recently appointed as the new Director of Operations for the FAU Broward Campuses. Michelle is a three-time FAU alumnus and long standing FAU employee. She completed her Ph.D. in Integrative Biology at FAU in December of 2019. For her dissertation research, she developed novel methodologies for isolating and measuring the activities of pathogenic antibodies produced by patients with a disease called systemic lupus erythematosus.

Michelle has worked at FAU since the Fall of 2002 in a variety of positions on both the Boca and Davie campuses. She most recently served as Director of Academic Programs and Support Services for the Department of Biological Sciences where she managed workflow across the Jupiter, Boca Raton and Davie campuses. She is pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the FAU Broward Campuses in her new role as Director of Operations.

Although Dr. Cavallo’s background is in science, she is exploring new areas of study and is currently a student in FAU’s Higher Education Leadership Doctoral Program. She hopes that this program will arm her with tools that will support the FAU Broward community.

During her limited free time, Michelle enjoys spending time with family and friends (“with appropriate social distancing right now”) and with her dog. She also enjoys reading, baking, and gardening.

“Currently, my best FAU memory is being hooded by my dear friend and mentor, Dr. Mirjana Pavlovic, when I earned my Ph.D.,” Dr. Cavallo said. “It took a village to cross that finish line.”
