Hands-on Opportunities for Students to Collaborate on Real-world Projects

Florida Atlantic University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science has received a $1.5 million gift from the Aaron Family Foundation and Ubicquia, Inc., to establish the Ubicquia Innovation Center for Intelligent Infrastructure (UICII). Ubicquia, a global leader in artificial intelligence-driven smart infrastructure, will partner with FAU to advance research in industrial sensors, AI and real-time analytics that strengthen power grids, improve energy efficiency, and enhance public safety.

The UICII will create hands-on opportunities for FAU students and faculty to collaborate with industry and public utilities on real-world projects that shape the future of intelligent infrastructure. This partnership positions Florida as a leader in smart technology innovation, workforce development and sustainable community advancement.

“Through this visionary partnership with the Aaron Family Foundation and Ubicquia, we are advancing an AI-First future – one where intelligent sensors, data analytics and real-time decision tools make communities more resilient, efficient and connected,” said Stella Batalama, Ph.D., dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science. “This center will empower our students and faculty to develop transformative solutions that serve society while building the skilled workforce that will drive Florida’s innovation economy.”
