Sediment Sample
Photography by Hanna Bridgham, Charles E. Schmidt College of Science and Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute
Sediment sample in four parts - This photograph shows a sediment sample under a microscope and a dissecting scope at two different magnifications. These particles are looked at for characteristics like organic material, small plankton shells, and large transparent sand particles. Also, the particles are measured to get an idea of the size of the particles in the sample. Extra images are taken of biological specimens or other unnatural finds like microplastics. Also, extra images are taken by students for screensavers and desktop backgrounds.
