Mini-Tems and Intersession Frequently Asked Questions

Can I receive financial aid for a Mini-term or Intersession class?
Yes. As long as you are meeting the general eligibility criteria for financial aid, you can receive financial aid for Mini-term or Intersession classes.
When will financial aid pay for my Mini-term or Intersession* class?
It depends on the type of financial aid that you have – but as a general rule, your class must begin before financial aid will pay for it. For example, if you have a Pell grant, it won't pay for that class until the class begins and we can confirm that you began attendance in the class. * Intersession financial aid is not disbursed until the regular spring semester starts.
How does Pell grant work with Mini-term or Intersession classes?
Pell grant can pay for Mini-Term or Intersession classes, but you must be sure to add all of your classes before or during the first add/drop period of the term. The Pell grant can disburse for each individual class only after the class begins and we confirm that you began attendance in that class.
Can I receive a loan for a Mini-term or Intersession class?
Yes. You can receive a loan as long as you are enrolled at least half-time (6 credits for undergraduate students, 4.5 credits for graduate students) during the semester and meet all other general eligibility criteria.
I added a Mini-term or Intersession class! Will my Pell grant pay for it?
It depends on when you add the class. You should add all of your classes during the first add/drop period of the semester in order to be considered for Pell grant eligibility. While you may be able to add a Mini-term or Intersession class later on during the term, it won't count towards your enrollment for Pell grant purposes.
Will I need to repay any financial aid if I withdraw from my Mini-term or Intersession class?
As long as we have acceptable documentation that you attended the class (for example, submitted test or assignment), you are generally not required to repay financial aid when you withdraw from one class. However, if you completely withdraw from the term (drop all credits), you may be required to repay some or all of your financial aid. Withdrawing from a class also affects your Satisfactory Academic Progress status.
