Paid Parental Leave
In order to request Faculty Paid Parental Leave, a faculty member must be eligible. Eligibility is defined as being a 9-month faculty member who does not accrue annual leave and is included in the United Faculty of Florida (UFF) bargaining unit on a benefit eligible line of 0.75 FTE or greater. FAUS employees and 12-month faculty are not eligible.
- Employees who have been employed at least six years of creditable service (not including leaves of absence) and are eligible to retire according to state retirement program rules.
- (Non-Eligible) Employees not eligible to participate in PRP include those who have received notice of non-reappointment, layoff, or termination; or those who participate in the State’s Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP), and FAUS employees.
- Eligibility shall expire on the employee’s 70th birthday.
- Those who decide to participate must provide written notice to the University prior to the expiration of their eligibility.
- Those who choose to participate must retire with an effective date not later than 180 days, nor less than 90 days, after that submit such written notice, except that when the end of this 180 day period falls within a semester, the period may be extended no later than the beginning of the subsequent term.

- Note: The decision to participate in the Phased Retirement Program is irrevocable after the required approval document has been executed by all parties. Program availability, details, and eligibility are subject to change. Please refer to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Phased Retirement Program Agreement for In-Unit Faculty
Sabbaticals are made available for full-time, tenured faculty who have completed at least six years of full-time service. Sabbaticals are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through further professional development, not as a reward for service. Sabbatical applications usually are distributed by the University Provost’s office in early September for the subsequent academic year.
Employee Educational Scholarship Program for Faculty Dependent Children (EESP-D) – Tuition Waiver
This program provides a University benefit that will aid in the recruitment and retention of FAU faculty. Employees eligible for FAU’s EESP who do not use their six (6) credit hours of instruction (graduate or undergraduate) per term may instead participate in the dependent child tuition plan for an IRS qualified dependent child. The dependent/student will be responsible for any and all non-refundable fees as identified in the university catalog and regulations.
