Christy Timm Fulkerson

Christy Timm Fulkerson, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, is an assistant professor whose work centers on language and literacy development in young children. Her research examines language-based risk factors for early literacy difficulties, with a particular focus on bilingual learners and children at risk for developmental language disorder. She is especially interested in improving early identification through more accurate and culturally responsive assessment and screening practices, as well as strengthening the capacity of families, educators, and clinicians who support children’s language and literacy development.

Prior to her academic career, Dr. Timm Fulkerson worked as a speech-language pathologist in early intervention, elementary, and middle school settings. This applied clinical experience informs her teaching and research, with an emphasis on supporting children, educators, and families in the practical application of evidence-based practices. Across her work, she is committed to bridging science and practice to promote effective and sustainable support for children and families.
