Software Available to COE Faculty and Staff
Faculty and Staff have access to a wide variety of software solutions. These options depend on a few factors such as the operating system of the device as well as who owns the device. Some of the software requires additional purchase either from the department or from the individual.
For FAU-owned devices, the COE Tech department preloads popular software like Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat. Additional software is available for faculty and staff to download and install via the Company Portal. For help accessing the Company Portal app on your device, click here.

Other Tools
There are other software products available such as Adobe Creative Cloud, MS Visio Online, MS Project Online, and MS Co-Pilot. Microsoft Company Portal
Computers owned by, and managed, by FAU will often come with a software tool called Company Portal. This tool allows FAU to manage resources and updates on the machine as well as provide the user with the ability to install useful software packages available to the FAU community.
To access Company Portal:
- For MS Windows users, press the START button and then search for "Company Portal"
- For Mac users, from the Apple menu, click on Go then Applications, then select "Company Portal"

Virtual Apps
Virtual Apps provides secure, 24/7 access to popular software from any device with an internet connection. The software runs on a cloud virtual environment and therefore does not run on your local computer. This approach resolves many licensing and installation issues, but requires the user to manage files and file transfers more judiciously.
