MINDFULNESS AND WELL-BEING

ABOUT

Attention to the moment is a rudimentary but powerful force for peace and healing. With this idea we expect to collaborate with University colleagues to explore the underpinnings of mindful attention, including cognitive, neuroscience, and behavior dimensions. The merit of mindfulness for health as well as accomplishment in sports, academics and everyday living will be considered.

The incorporation of mindfulness training into the FAU curriculum and campus life is an initiative of the university’s Peace, Justice, and Human Rights program. Following Barb Schmidt’s philosophy that “outer peace begins with inner peace,” FAU encourages students, faculty and staff to explore mindfulness techniques in their daily lives and to participate in the Peace, Justice, and Human Rights events and activities throughout the year. Students may also earn an academic certificate in Peace, Justice and Human Rights Studies. For more information, click here
