Annual Field Study to United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
2026 Field Study Reflections
2026 Field Study to United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
The annual Educator Field Study to Washington D.C. is open to 5th – 12th grade educators from Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, Glades and St. Lucie counties.
Participants will receive intensive training and engage with one of the most renowned museums and Holocaust education centers worldwide.
Below is the feedback we gathered from educators who participated in our 2025 field study:
I learned…
I learned that people cannot bury their heads in the sand and stand by and watch atrocities. If more people got involved, the Holocaust could have been prevented – Dawn Azzarelli
I learned SO MUCH! There were so many gaps in my knowledge of the events of the Holocaust, specifically learning about the ghettos, the killing squads, and the work camps/factories (BMW) that exploited Jews for slave labor – Melissa Abell
I learned a lot speaking to a survivor – this really impacted me. I always knew about the millions of victims, but the internal feeling of empathy towards each individual grew immensely – Kyle March
I will be able to use in my teaching…
Classroom conversations and assembles on the dangers of antisemitism and the decisiveness that were at the beginning of all of this. We need to ensure our students understand the importance of embracing everyone and being an upstander whenever they see a need – Melissa Abell
I would change…
I think the museum is a beautiful tribute. I also appreciate spending time and reflecting with my peers.
Additional comments…
Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this great experience! It was one of the best professional developments of my life – Alexander Collazo

“I learned that the Holocaust is very complex. You can get different perspectives based on the time, place and person waging their experience.”
“To teach more respect for differences and acceptance of all. I plan to research the art created in the concentration camps and tie in the emotional healing that art has, the self-expression of the prisoners, and how art was still needed to capture history and tell their story.”
“I am interested on more Professional Developments on the Holocaust. I’m the cohort leader for my 9th grade world history teachers. I am also working to continue to expand and improve my lesson plans. I learned a lot this weekend and really enjoyed it.”
