Call for Proposals
Appreciative Education Conference - January 29, 2027
The Office of Appreciative Education is accepting interactive concurrent session proposals for the Appreciative Education Conference that will be held virtually on January 29, 2027.
Purpose: The Appreciative Education Conference brings the community of Appreciative Educators together to share knowledge, strategies, and tools about applying Appreciative Education in educational spaces.
Scope: Presentations will feature innovative practices and research for PreK-12 and higher education settings.
Engagement: Concurrent sessions are 50 minutes in length and are hosted via Zoom. Accepted Innovative Practice proposals will include at least one active learning opportunity for participants to engage with each other (e.g., Zoom breakout room discussion, group discussion, participation in the chat).

Proposal Requirements

- Appreciative Advising, Coaching, & Mentoring: how educators enact Appreciative strategies in one-on-one interactions with students.
- Appreciative Administration: how supervisors or administrators employ an Appreciative approach in leading teams.
- Appreciative Instruction: how the Appreciative Education framework is applied within classroom settings.
- Appreciative Campus: how the framework is being adopted at scale within offices, departments, colleges, universities, and/or PreK-12 institutions.
- Appreciative Inquiry: how the Appreciative Inquiry framework is being implemented to improve engagement and organizational culture.
- Abstract (max. 120 words)
- Learning Outcomes (max. 120 words)
- Concurrent Session Outline: Please provide a detailed outline of the 50-minute concurrent session (40 minutes + 10 minutes for Q&A) including the format of the activities and amount of time planned for each component. For Innovative Practice submissions, please include at least one active learning opportunity for participants to engage with each other (e.g., Zoom breakout room discussion, group discussion, participation in the chat). (max. 300 words.)

- September 2: Notification of acceptance sent to presenters
- September 30: Deadline for presenters to confirm and register for the conference

Proposal Review
Proposals will be scored at the level to which the proposal:
- Demonstrates alignment with Appreciative Education
- Emphasizes a strengths-based approach, centering potential and possibilities
- Inspires participants to take action in applying Appreciative Education ways of working or thinking
- Outlines activities that ensure high levels of engagement and interaction
- Innovative Practice
- Shares knowledge, strategies, tools, or practices for making a difference in educational spaces
- Includes at least one opportunity for active learning (e.g., Zoom breakout room discussion, group discussion, participation in the chat)
- Research
- Shares research methods for, or results of, incorporating Appreciative Education in research
