Academic Integrity
Students at Florida Atlantic University are expected to maintain the highest ethical standards. Dishonesty is considered a serious breach of these ethical standards, because it interferes with the University mission to provide a high quality education in which no student enjoys an unfair advantage over any other. Dishonesty is also destructive of the University community, which is grounded in a system of mutual trust and places high value on personal integrity and individual responsibility.
The FAU Code of Academic Integrity prohibits dishonesty and requires a faculty member, student, or staff member to notify an instructor when there is reason to believe dishonesty has occurred in a course, program requirement, or University supported academic activity. The instructor must pursue any reasonable allegation, taking action where appropriate.
For further information, see Academic Integrity (Center for Teaching & Learning).
In the case of a first offense, the student may elect to complete the online Academic Integrity Seminar. The deadline to complete the seminar is the end of the semester following the semester in which the dishonesty occurred. The deadline for a Summer 2025 violation is December 15, 2025. The deadline for a Fall 2025 violation is May 11, 2026.
The deadline for violation occurring in the Spring 2025, or previous, semester has expired. Students with violations in these semesters are no longer eligible for the transcript notation removal.
