FACILITY CLOSED FOR ANNUAL MAINTENANCE
July 27, 2015
The Recreation & Fitness Center is
closed annually
to accommodate scheduled maintenance projects. Along with preventative maintenance, capital projects and major repairs are done during these times to minimize disruption or inconvenience. Projects include sanding and sealing the basketball courts & studio floors, power washing the locker rooms, cleaning vents, fans and light fixtures, moving and maintaining the fitness equipment, dusting high areas and repairing & spot painting walls.
The facility will reopen on Monday, August 10th at 6:00 a.m.
Membership rates were set with the understanding that the facility will be closed for various holidays and a week of annual cleaning and maintenance.
We know the frustration of an interrupted fitness routine but we hope you will be pleased with the work accomplished during this week. Thank you for your understanding as we strive to keep the Recreation & Fitness Center in excellent condition for years to come.
STATE OF FLORIDA SUMMIT HIGHLIGHTS
Campus Recreation hosted the annual Florida Summit this past July. About 200 hundred campus recreation staff from various Florida universities were in attendance, including professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees. Solutions and successes within the various collegiate recreation programs were discussed to help each other become more effective. Several conversations were facilitated by FAU’s own Kyle LeDuc, Sarah Canatsey, Lindsay Brookey, and Jeana Carow. A representative from the surgeon general’s office was also in attendance.
PAINTBALL CLUB CROWNED NATIONAL CHAMPS
Congratulations to Florida Atlantic University’s very own Paintball Club for winning the 2015 Class A National Collegiate Paintball Association title. This is the first time since the club was formed in 2008 that they have brought home this award. FAU Paintball competed against seven other collegiate club teams from around the country before they successfully defeated the University of Central Florida Knights and came out on top. Go Owls!
