The Lynn, Wold, Schmidt Ph.D. Fellowship in Peace Studies

The Center for Peace, Justice and Human Rights is excited to announce The Lynn, Wold, Schmidt Ph.D. Fellowship in Peace Studies. This Fellowship supports one newly admitted student in the Comparative Studies Program whose research explores questions related to peace, nonviolence, and/or peacebuilding. The Fellowship allows the student to conduct focused research or creative activity with a tenured or tenure-track faculty member as their GTA/GRA assignment for four academic years beginning in the 2026 – 27 academic year. The specific project and tasks assigned will be determined by the supervising faculty member and the Director of the Center for Peace, Justice and Human Rights. The Director of the Center for Peace, Justice and Human Rights will review the applications and make a determination regarding the student and the advising faculty member.
Qualified applicants must:
- be admitted to the Comparative Studies Ph.D. program.
- maintain a GPA of 3.6 or higher.
- earn a B+ or higher in all courses.
- present their research yearly at a PJHR event.
Interested applicants must submit the following to pjhr@fau.edu by November 15, 2025:
- A research statement explaining the students’ current research agenda.
- Transcripts that include GPA.
- Two letters of recommendation from current or previous faculty members.
- A writing sample of at least 4,000 words.
