Course description
This course will offer a brief introduction to the Nazi Holocaust including its origins, persecution, killing operations, aftermath, and significance. Weekly discussions and lecture will occur topics relating to the origins and history of antisemitism and persecution; the Aftermath and Significance of the Holocaust, as well as cover ups, denial, and the philosophical and religious implications.
About the Professor
Professor Doug McGetchin is Associate Director of the FAU PJHR Initiative and a professor in the FAU Department of History, where his research and teaching on topics relating to peace, span world history, modern Germany, modern Europe, and ancient and modern South Asia. He received a Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego, specializing in cultural, political, and intellectual connections between Germany and India. He was director of the FAU Peace Studies program 2012-13 before going to Kolkata (Calcutta), India on a Nehru-Fulbright grant for 2013-14.
