The online instructors in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice (SCCJ) are on a roll! In back-to-back months, two instructors were asked to share their expertise on Faculty Lounge Live, a 45-minute coffee chat-style series hosted by the Center for Online and Continuing Education.

In September, online instructor Frank de la Torre shared insights with faculty around the university about how to elevate student engagement in online classes. As a former Chief Assistant Broward Public Defender and a long-time online instructor for Florida Atlantic, Frank had plenty of meaningful takeaways to share.

Then in October, senior instructor and online master teacher Ricky Langlois shared insights about ways to elevate online teaching, particularly as it relates to leveraging Canvas’ new analytics platform. This platform can be used to bolster struggling students and optimize course designs to foster active student engagement. Ricky shared numerous pieces of wisdom, including his strategies to help enhance the students’ learning experiences and tailor future teaching methods.
