Organization and Management

The NRT program will be directed by PI Borko Furht. The Project Coordinator will report to the Director. The Project Coordinator will be responsible to oversee four committees and internal evaluations. PI Furht will work with all committees to provide the direction and vision for the NRT program. Jointly with Project Coordinator, Furht will also be responsible for the Outreach Program.

The Evaluation and Assessment Committee will be coordinated by the Project Coordinator and the evaluation will be carried out by our Internal Evaluator, Dr. Nancy Romance. Formerly the program had an external evaluator. 

The Recruiting and Student Development Co mmittee will consist of two subcommittees, which will be responsible to recruit a diverse group of students from different departments, and to provide professional development for these students. CO-PI Kalva will lead Recruiting and Admissions Subcommittee, while Co-PI Tappen will coordinate Professional Development Subcommittee.

The Curriculum Committee will be responsible for the development of the program curriculum, and related normalization and in-depth elective courses. The committee will be led by Co-PI Marques.

The Research Committee will provide guidance for research topics for NRT students, will collaborate with industry partners relating to these projects, and coordinate the development of testbeds. The committee will be led by Co-PI Khoshgoftaar.

The External Advisory Panel will consist of representatives from industry corporations who will provide advices and industry perspectives of the NRT program and its progress, and will also include 3 academic disciplines from other universities. We already obtained six commitments: 3 executives from high-tech companies including LexisNexis Risk Solutions, JM Family Enterprises, and Modernizing Medicine, as well as three academic disciplines from Florida International University, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and San Francisco State University.

Our NRT Team will organize and manage the NRT program by having regular by-weekly meetings. The topics of the meetings will include curriculum and related courses development, research projects, student recruitment and development, booth-camp and testbeds development, and all the other issues related to the NRT program. In addition, we will set up yearly tasks and milestones, as presented in Table below.
