Using electrophysiological indices of learning, including EEG ERPs, the CHAT lab investigates speech learning and the passage of time. Specifically, the lab studies the impact of post-practice time spent in rest or sleep. Known as offline learning, these periods following active or online learning and may result in changes to speech perception and production in the absence of further practice. Additionally, the lab explores the effect of time-of-day on procedural and declarative learning and its relationship to chronotype synchrony and asynchrony. The FAU CHAT lab is located in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, College of Education and is fully equipped with a nap room and state of the art EEG equipment.
