Daniel (Dan) Gorczynski, Ph.D., is a mammal biologist, studying the movement, ecology and conservation of mammals globally.

Gorczynski completed his bachelor’s at Vanderbilt University, Tennessee, and his doctoral degree at Rice University, Texas. His dissertation focused on factors that affect mammal populations and diversity in tropical forests around the world. His research integrates field-based observations with remote sensing and cutting-edge statistical tools including machine learning and AI. He has conducted on-the-ground fieldwork in Madagascar, Tanzania, Texas, Minnesota and Brazil.

At Florida Atlantic, Gorczynski is studying mammal movement and ecology in the Florida Wildlife Corridor in association with Archbold Biological Station, and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Tanzania as part of Kate Detwiler's primatology lab at Florida Atlantic University.
