SYLLABI & TEXTBOOK POSTING REQUIREMENTS
Syllabi, textbooks, and course materials are essential learning tools. Posting them in advance supports transparency and helps students make informed enrollment decisions.

Syllabi (Simple Syllabus)
- All course syllabi must be available to students in Simple Syllabus at least 45 days prior to the start of the term.
Textbooks / Course Materials (Follett Discover)
- Required and recommended textbook/course materials must be available to students at least 45 days before the start of the term
Exemptions: Individualized courses, such as directed individual studies, internships, thesis, dissertation defense, and performance, are exempt from posting requirements.
Post Your Syllabus (Simple Syllabus)
Simple Syllabus (implemented in 2023) is FAU’s electronic syllabus management system that supports digital syllabi and course materials in a user-friendly format.
What auto-populates for you:
- Florida Atlantic policies and course details (instructor of record, course number/section, course description, pre/co-requisites, location, meeting times) are automatically populated from the course schedule.
- Textbook and instructional materials information are similarly auto-populated from bookstore adoptions, and updates occur automatically when course information changes.
Post Textbooks / Course Materials (Follett Discover)
FAU’s textbook adoption process is completed through Canvas using the Follett Discover tool.
In Follett Discover, faculty can:
- Select required and recommended course materials
- Explore a wide range of textbooks and other resources
- Access user reviews and recommendations
