Owls Care Retreats

Every Body is Beautiful

An Owls Care Retreat is a great way to connect with other students around a shared topic. You can meet new people in these peer-facilitated programs. We have retreats that focus on either sexual assault resistance or body acceptance. See below for more information on each retreat type and register for one here:

Body Acceptance Programs

These proven 5-hour programs empower students to:

  • Resist cultural pressures to accept the appearance ideal
  • Reallocate your valuable time to something other than striving for an unrealistic body
  • Increase confidence and body satisfaction
  • Bond with other like-minded students

What's fun about The Body Project? A gift basket (including a t-shirt!) will be given to all students who attend both sessions. The sessions are broken up into two 2.5-hour sessions, held one week apart. You will be part of a small group of students discussing the appearance ideal and how to fight back against it. We will discuss pressures and influences on body image, and these sessions will be very interactive, including discussions and activities.

Please note: The Body Project is not group therapy or treatment for eating disorders. If you are concerned that you or a friend are struggling with an eating disorder, please call Counseling and Psychological Services at 561-297-2277.

Sexual Assault Resistance Weekends

These proven 12-hour programs empower students to:

  • Increase awareness and understanding of sexual assault, consent, and healthy relationships.
  • Equip participants with practical strategies to recognize and resist sexual coercion and violence.
  • Build confidence in personal boundaries, communication, and bystander intervention skills.
  • Foster a supportive and empowering environment that promotes safety and respect for all students.

You have the option to attend Flip The Script or Taking Off The Mask. Flip the Script is recommended for women and focuses on understanding social pressures, recognizing risk cues, and practicing verbal and physical strategies to resist sexual coercion. Taking Off the Mask is recommended for men and focuses on unpacking gender expectations, promoting healthy masculinity, and strengthening skills to prevent and intervene in situations involving sexual violence.

What's fun about the Sexual Assault Resistance Weekends? All students who attend both sessions will get a free lunch each day of the program, t-shirts, water bottles, and other giveaways. The sessions are broken up into two 6-hour sessions, held over one weekend. You will be part of a small group of students engaging in very interactive sessions, including discussions and activities.
