2024-25 Inaugural Floyd Scholar Daniel Cornely is the second Floyd Scholar to graduate with his doctoral degree. Dr. Cristóbal Salinas Jr., Ph.D. and María Vásquez-Colina, Ph.D. served as co-chairs for his dissertation study, "Understanding the Impacts of Career Services within Graduate Programs: Sport Management and Master of Business Administration." Dr. Cornely received career mentorship from Dr. Stephen Engle, Associate Provost and Professor at Florida Atlantic. He also received research mentorship from Dr. Wayne L. Black, Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati. Congratulations to Dr. Cornely on his achievement!
2024-25 Inaugural Floyd Scholar Marlynn Lopez is the first Floyd Scholar to graduate with her doctoral degree. Dr. Cristobal Salinas Jr served as chair for her dissertation, "Steward of Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Identity: A Qualitative Narrative Study on Hispanic/Latinx Student Affairs Personnel at Four-Year Public HSIs."
Dr. Lopez received career mentorship from Dr. Katie Burke, Assistant Vice President for Alumni and Community Engagement at Florida Atlantic, and Dr. Joaquin Martinez, Provost and Vice President of Instruction at the Community College of Baltimore County. She also received research mentorship from Dr. Orkidhe Mohajeri at West Chester University. We're excited to share her graduation photos here. Congratulations to Dr. Lopez on her achievement!
2024-25 Inaugural Floyd Scholar Kelli Listermann successfully defended her proposal in Fall 2025 and is now in the data collection phase.
2024-25 Inaugural Floyd Scholar Susan Richard began advising and mentoring Masters students in the Higher Education Leadership program at FAU during the 2025 summer semester.
2024-25 Inaugural Floyd Scholar Kelli Listermann has four published papers thus far. Her first, titled “Underpaid and Undervalued: The Experiences of Women Administrative Assistants in U.S. Higher Education,” was published in the Journal of Education Human Resources. She has several more papers in the works.
2025-26 Floyd Scholar Sita Ramnarace has co-presented at the Florida Academic Advising Association (FLACADA) Annual Conference and currently serves on the FLACADA steering committee. Staying connected to the pulse of the academic advising community and its evolving needs is a priority for her.
2025-26 Floyd Scholar Jordan Dipentima recently presented at NASPA in New Orleans and will be presenting again at the NASPA Student Success Strategies in Denver in June. She was invited to speak on a webinar series with a few different vendors: Paperclip, Mentor Collective, and CampusESP. She presented at FAU’s Institutional Advancement Retreat earlier this spring. She also contributed to a paper on Student Sense of Belonging and Autism Spectrum Disorder with colleagues from UCLA that is currently in the works for publication.
2025-26 Floyd Scholar Amber McCune had the opportunity to present at the NACADA Annual Conference, where she spoke on training and development strategies for new academic advisors. Additionally, she presented my literature review centered on my research interests at the SAC Research Symposium hosted by the College of Education Student Achievement Council.
