The Master’s Degree in Reading Education program provides an opportunity for students to earn a 36-credit degree designed for already-certified (temporary or professional) teachers and experienced teachers who want to pursue an advanced degree and add reading certification upon passing the state examination. Please be advised that you can take no more than 1/3 of the credits in this program as a non-degree student before being officially admitted.

The MASTER’S DEGREE in READING EDUCATION provides an opportunity for CERTIFIED (temporary or professional) TEACHERS and EXPERIENCED TEACHERS who would like to pursue an advanced degree, plus add reading certification upon passing the state examination.

Admission Requirements

Application will require applicant to submit:

  • Official transcripts including all undergraduate coursework and evidence of bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university (3.0 GPA required)
  • Personal Statement outlining interest in the program
  • Resume
  • Two letters of recommendation that highlight the candidate's academic potential
  • Any additional requirements for the degree for which you are applying that are listed on the application

After your application is completed, it will be forwarded to the Department of Curriculum & Instruction for a decision.

How to Apply

To be considered for admission into masters programs in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, applicants must complete a graduate application through the Graduate College.
